Helendorf River Inn

Phone: (800) 445-2271

  • Standard Rooms that do not overlook the river and involve stairs will be $114.00 per night plus tax.
  • Riverfront Balcony Rooms with elevator accessibility will be $139.00 per night plus tax.
  • Patio Level Rooms will be $149.00 per night plus tax.
  • The Helendorf requires one night’s lodging as a deposit at the time reservations are made.
  • Cancellation period would be 10 days prior to arrival in order for the deposit to be fully refundable.

The rates are a bit higher than we are used to but Okteenerfest is being held during the town’s annual Oktoberfest celebration and these rates are a substantial discount over their normal rates. The venue and festive atmosphere should more than make up for the extra cost!

NB: The block of rooms AND OUR PREFERRED RATE will be held until August 1. After that, the rooms will be release to the public and the rate will revert back to their rack rate for everyone who books after August 1. So register and book as soon as you are able.

2016 Awards

A variety of awards will be given out such as:

  • Farthest Distance Traveled (driven or trailered)
  • Youngest Owner
  • Oldest Owner
  • Earliest VIN
  • Latest VIN
  • Newbie Award (newest to 914 ownership)
  • Old Timer Award (owned their 914 the longest)
  • Jack Stand Award….self explanatory??
  • Other awards the staff dreams up

The Car Show will be Peoples Choice judging. There will be three classes: Stock, Improved and Modified. Again, this is not a concours or show event, it’s a driving event so there is less emphasis on “Q-tipping” your car than some events.

  • Stock will be as noted – stock. Minor modifications can be made (radio, wheels, etc) but basically a stock car.
  • Improved: Must be street legal, all basically Porsche parts
  • Modified: Full race cars and conversions with other non-Porsche power plants (V8, Subie, etc)

Depending on the number of cars in each class, we will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, PLUS an overall People’s Choice award.  Classes will be at the discretion of the event Chairs and all decisions are final…but they do take bribes… :)

2016 Friday Drive

We are still finalizing the centerpiece of Okteenerfest – the Friday Drive!!  With the mid engine design and superb handling, our cars were made to drive. This is the foundation of which Okteenerfest was built – to go out and enjoy our teeners!!

For 2016, we have many NEW roads, some old favorites, and plenty of sites to see with our Lunch stop being in the awesome and eclectic town of Blowing Rock, NC!

Details to follow…

2016 Okteenerfest Advocates

A big part of the Okteenerfest experience is the huge amount of goodies given away. Where do all these items come from? From the very generous Okteenerfest Advocates – people, businesses, and companies that support the Porsche 914 in a variety of ways. We ask that all Okteenerfest attendees (and other 914 fans) support these Advocates in appreciation of their support of this event.

Okteenerfest 2016: End of an Era – Celebrating the Porsche 914 1970-1976

September 22-25 in Banner Elk, NC.

This year’s theme is “End of an Era – Celebrating the Porsche 914 1970-1976” in honor of the entire production run of the Porsche 914. This year marks 40 years since the final model year of the 914 and to commemorate this “End of an Era”, Okteenerfest 2016 will feature a selection of the best stock 914s in attendance. In addition to the standard categories of Stock, Modified, and Custom, a special group of 914s representing each model year will be on display at the car show. If you would like your 914 to be considered for this display, mark YES on the registration form and we will contact you for additional information.

914s

Whether your 914 is a beater, a daily driver, or garage queen, make plans now to join other 914 owners for some fantastic driving, plenty of socializing, a bit of showing off, and a truckload of give-aways. What’s that? You say your 914 is on jack stands? No worries. Plan to attend anyway as there is always an empty seat available. You won’t be disappointed.

After two years being held in the Smokies of east Tennessee, the event was moved east into the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina in 2015. Due to popular demand, we return to Banner Elk for a second year in 2016. This year’s route features portions of last year’s drive with some added surprises including a small but exciting segment of The Diamondback. As usual, the day drive includes not only a ton of twisties, sweepers, and ear-popping elevation changes but plenty of stopping points to get out, stretch, and enjoy the scenic splendor of the mountains. The lunch stop this year will be in Blowing Rock, NC.

If you have not been to an Okteenerfest in the past, mark this one on your calendar. Last year over 100 people attended representing 60+ 914s making Okteenerfest the largest 914 gathering in the U.S. in recent history! We expect those numbers to grow in 2016.

In addition to the driving, Okteenerfest features plenty of good eating, an awards ceremony, tons of give-aways from some very generous vendors, a Peoples Choice Car Show, and some of the nicest people you will ever meet gathered in a single place.

Okteenerfest will be hosted this year by the Best Western Mountain Lodge in Banner Elk, NC.

2015 Okteenerfest Wrapup

Thank you to all the attendees, sponsors, and visitors to Okteenerfest 2015!

The weather was absolutely perfect, the driving was incredible, the socializing was fantastic, the people were friendly, and  the cars were 914s!

With over 60 registered 914s and 100+ attendees, this year’s Okteenerfest easily doubled the numbers of the original event held in 2013. Among the usual 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0 914s, there were a number of factory sixes, conversion sixes, and LS-power plants drool over. Some of the rare and unique 914s on display included two M-471 optioned 914-6s, the Max Moritz #19 racer, and a few racers from Black Forest Racing.

Plans for 2016 have already begun so be sure to check back for more info as it is made available. You cansign up for the email list for the latest info sent directly to your inbox.
